Why Choose This Trek with ADN Sahara?

Led by the Children of the Sand

Your guides, Lahsan and his team, are true nomads. They were born in nomadic tents and have lived in these dunes their entire lives. When you travel with them, you aren’t just a tour participant; you are a guest in their home. They know every well, every track, and every story of this land. Meet the team here: Your Native Nomadic Guides.

The Mystery of the Singing Dunes

This is a secret the desert only shares with those who take their time. When the wind blows or when you walk along the crests, Erg Zahar begins to “sing.” Researchers from the CNRS and the MNHN (Museum of Natural History) have measured this powerful sound at 110 decibels.
Nomads call it “the voice of the ancestors.” Lahsan guides you there on foot, because there is no other way to truly listen.

Your 6-Day Sahara Camel Trek Itinerary

Day 1: M’Hamid → Al-Feirg | Starting Your 6-Day Sahara Camel Trek

We meet at 8:30 AM at Café La Rose du Sud, the heartbeat of M’Hamid. Take a moment for a final espresso or your first Moroccan mint tea while your nomadic caravan is prepared just a few meters away. It is a special experience to see the camels being loaded before leaving the village for the great silence.

This is the official start of your 6-day Sahara camel trek Morocco.

  • Evening: Your first traditional tagine over a wood fire under the desert stars.
Lahsan and his team leading the caravan in the Moroccan Sahara — loaded camels, mixed sand and dry vegetation ground, small dune crowned with vegetation in the distance, blue sky, ideal conditions for a desert trek Morocco with ADN Sahara.
The caravan is on its way — Lahsan leading, as always. The desert opens before you.

Day 2: Kasbah Bousnina | Ancient Ruins & Trekking Paths

The landscape shifts as soft sand gives way to ancient stone.
This stage of your Sahara trekking journey leads to Kasbah Bousnina, a 200-year-old mud-brick fortress.
Once, the great salt caravans stopped here; Lahsan and his team will share their ancestral stories around the tea.

Day 3: Reaching Erg Zahar | The Singing Peaks of your Camel Trek

The dunes grow giant and turn deep orange. This is the breathtaking heart of your 6-day Sahara camel trek.

  • The Highlight: Summiting the peak at sunset to hear the dunes “sing”—a rare phenomenon measured at 110dB. A powerful, almost mystical moment that only a walking trek can offer.

Day 4: Itonir | Nomadic Slow Travel & Draa Valley

We leave the high dunes to reach the bed of the Draa River—Morocco’s longest, now a mineral highway of silence. This day of your nomadic crossing is dedicated to “Slow Travel”: walking peacefully, taking long breaks under the tamarisks, and deep rest. The Sahara teaches us the true meaning of patience.

💧 The Water Secret — What the Desert Hides

From M’Hamid, the Draa River appears to sleep. Its bed is dry, but the water is there, flowing silently underground—a hidden life force that Lahsan has learned to “read” since his childhood. Knowing where to find it is the difference between a simple walk and a true nomadic crossing.

Day 5: Al-Dhweib Oasis | A Hidden Jewel on the Trekking Route

Like a mirage, the Al-Dhweib Oasis appears—a small green gem hidden in the sand. This is one of the most beautiful stops on our 6-day Sahara camel trek itinerary. For this final night, the desert comes alive: nomadic songs and rhythmic chants around the campfire to celebrate your desert adventure. This is the soul of the Sahara—raw, spontaneous, and shared under the stars.

Day 6: The Return to M’Hamid | Completing Your 100km Sahara Trek

A final breakfast at sunrise before the last stretch of your Sahara trekking tour. We cross the plateaus and ancient palm groves to return to M’Hamid village around noon.
You leave with sand in your shoes, but most importantly, with the pride of having completed a 100km nomadic journey.

“His kindness, hospitality and knowledge of the desert made this a true highlight of my trip. Choukrane bezef Lahsan!” 🇫🇷 Samuel C. — July 2025

“Three stays with ADN Sahara, and each time I leave with my head full of memories and my heart deeply touched. I have tried the trek, the dromedary, the 4×4 — and Lahsan always shows me incredible places. The desert in southern Morocco will always surprise me. The bread baked in the sand is delicious. I hold a very strong memory of the nights under the open sky, gazing at that star-filled sky. What touched me most was Lahsan’s kindness and respect. I always felt safe, whether travelling alone or with company. I am 67 years old and cannot wait to go back!”
