Lahsan — born in the desert, by your side

Lahsan grew up in the sand, born at the foot of the Erg Chigaga — his father still lives the nomadic life with his camels. He knows the Sahara the way most people know their own neighbourhood, except his stretches across hundreds of kilometres of dunes and open sky.

Today, he works with facilitators and retreat leaders from around the world — the terrain, the light, the wind, the best spots for absolute silence, he knows them by heart.

He’s not the one leading your sessions. That’s your work. His is making sure the desert is ready for them.

Why the Moroccan Sahara for your retreat?

Most retreat venues offer a nice view. The Sahara offers a co-facilitator: no background noise, no light pollution, no notifications. Nothing here is designed to impress — everything is designed to remove friction, not add structure.

The vastness of the dunes offers a perspective no urban retreat centre can recreate. Each evening, the sky burns red and gold; at night, the Milky Way stretches overhead — a setting that stops thought.

Zero noise pollution — meditation and yoga reach a depth rarely accessible elsewhere
Total digital detox — no signal at camp, disconnection happens naturally
A nomadic camp that adapts to your programme — never the other way around
Desert-born nomad guides — who understand timing, silence and space
A genuinely lived nomadic life — shared with sincerity
Fully tailored logistics — built around your teaching

From M’Hamid El Ghizlane, Lahsan takes your group wherever your programme calls for it: deep into the Erg Chegaga, toward the silent vastness of the Erg Zahar, or into quieter corners of the desert that only guides born here know.

FAQ — organize a Sahara retreat

Can the camp host a fully silent retreat?

Yes. Fully silent retreats are organised regularly — meals served in silence, the team communicating only when necessary, camp rhythm entirely shaped around your protocol. There’s no need to “create” silence here — it’s already part of the desert.

Can the camp move during the retreat?

Yes — many facilitators find this adds a powerful dimension: new dunes, new light, every day. The camp can move every one to two nights, or combine movement in the first phase with a fixed base for integration.

How far in advance should we book?

Three to six months ahead is comfortable for larger groups — but don’t let timing hold you back, reach out whatever your schedule looks like.

Is there Wi-Fi or phone signal at camp?

No, the camp is in total disconnection — for many, that’s the most valuable part of the experience. To stay reachable in an emergency, a satellite phone can be made available.

What should participants bring?

Clothing suited to temperature swings, a yoga mat if possible, a good headlamp, sunscreen, any regular medication. Traditional Moroccan rugs are provided for practice on the sand.

Are sand baths safe?

Yes, when properly guided — Lahsan is experienced in this traditional Berber practice, used for centuries to relieve joints and circulation. Not recommended for anyone with high blood pressure or heart conditions; Lahsan discusses this with you while building the programme.

Do you offer transfers from Marrakech?

Yes, for groups of 6 or more — 4×4 or minibus from Marrakech, Ouarzazate or Zagora. Ask us for a quote when you reach out.
