SAHARA TREK MOROCCO — HIKING & CAMEL TREKKING FROM M’HAMID
🇫🇷 Tous nos treks Sahara sont également disponibles en français — Explorer nos treks
Warm sand beneath your feet. The breath of the wind on your face. The silence — that vast, inhabited silence you never forget. Welcome to a sahara trek Morocco the way Lahsan lives it.
The Moroccan desert is one of the most breathtaking landscapes on earth. Dunes sculpted by the wind like waves frozen in time. Infinite reg plains — those flat, stony expanses, lunar and mesmerising — where light plays endlessly with the black rocks. A night sky so dense you feel you could reach out and touch it.
From M’Hamid El Ghizlane, the last town before the great desert, ADN Sahara takes you deep into this living, wild Sahara. On foot. On camelback. At your pace — always yours.
✅ No deposit — pay on arrival
✅ Daily departures — guaranteed, even for solo travellers
✅ All our guides were born in the desert
✅ From 1 day to 1 month and more — tailor-made
Lahsan knows the desert like the back of his hand

At ADN Sahara, all your guides were born here. Sons and grandsons of nomads, they grew up between the dunes and the regs. Lahsan knows the desert like the back of his hand — every forgotten track, every hidden spring, every star by its season.
He doesn’t follow a marked itinerary. He takes you where others don’t go. A forgotten well. A nomad camp. A ridge of Erg Chigaga that only desert people know.
Lahsan’s experienced eye reads the desert constantly — and when the moment is perfect, he’ll suggest you climb onto the camel to see the dunes from above, just as caravans have gazed upon them for centuries.
Setting off with ADN Sahara means entering the desert of someone who loves it — and who shares it with you.
“If Lahsan doesn’t reply straight away, it’s because he’s sharing a rare moment with a few lucky travellers…”

Sahara trek Morocco or 4×4 — which one is you?
In a 4×4, you cross the desert. On foot or on camelback, you enter it.
Trekking means sand beneath your feet. The slow rhythm of the caravan. Tea breaks in the shade of a dune. The feeling, after a few hours, that time has somehow stopped existing.
The 4×4 means more distance, more comfort, landscapes unfolding around you. Ideal for families with young children, those who prefer to avoid physical effort, or those with limited time.
Both reveal an authentic Sahara. They’re simply two different ways of loving it.

Responsible travel in the desert
Nomads, we are of the desert. We protect it with care.
Our camels move forward with confidence. Well fed, well watered, treated with respect and gentleness. On the trail, we walk beside them — on foot, finding the best paths, the gentlest descents. For us, the animal is a precious companion on the road.
We leave no trace behind. Plants stay rooted, the desert remains preserved. We have watched over this desert for generations — and every traveller who joins us allows this nomadic life to endure.
The desert is vast — and yet fragile in ways only those who truly know it can measure. You will leave changed. That is its power.
Children & families
The desert is a family thing.
Children under 12 are welcome free of charge — 1 child per paying adult. The camel trek is particularly suited to families — younger travellers absolutely love it. Pricing?
Find it under: 1-Day Trek, 2-Day Trek, 6-Day Erg Chegaga Trek and 6-Day Wild Crossing.

🇬🇧 J. February 2026
During a cycling trip across Morocco, arriving at the Chegaga dunes with nowhere to stay, I was lucky enough to meet Lahsan. Without him, the three days I spent there would have been just a one-night stop. His kindness, hospitality, authenticity and knowledge of the desert made it a true highlight of the trip. I am deeply grateful for the wonderful moments shared with Lahsan and will recommend him without hesitation to any traveller seeking a real desert experience. Choukrane bezef Lahsan!

Frequently asked questions about Sahara trek Morocco
Do I need to be fit for a sahara trek Morocco?
No. The 1 and 2-day circuits are accessible to all fitness levels — children, seniors, people unused to walking. The pace is gentle, with regular breaks. Your guides keep a watchful eye — if you need to rest or hop on a camel to take in the view from above, they’ll suggest it naturally, without you having to ask. The 6-day trek requires a reasonable base level of fitness, but no specific training.
What is a reg? What is an erg?
A reg is a vast, flat desert plain, swept by the wind and covered in fine gravel and black stones worn smooth over time. Lunar landscape, absolute silence, infinite horizon.
An erg is the complete opposite — an ocean of sand dunes, constantly shaped and reshaped by the wind. Erg Chigaga and Erg Zahar are among the most beautiful and least visited in the Moroccan Sahara.
An ADN Sahara trek takes you through both — that’s the true richness of the desert around M’Hamid.
Is this trip suitable for women travelling alone?
Yes — and it’s something ADN Sahara genuinely cares about. Solo women travellers have been part of ADN Sahara’s story from the very beginning. Every circuit is private. Lahsan and his team ensure every traveller feels respected, safe and completely free to enjoy the desert at their own pace.
Is a deposit required?
No. No deposit — payment on arrival, in euros, dirhams or dollars. In full on departure day, or half before, half on your return. You book, you come, you pay when you’re there.
What do we eat during a trek?
Meals prepared over the fire, in the heart of the desert. Vegetable or chicken tagine, couscous, bread baked in the hot sand, dates, unlimited mint tea and unlimited mineral water. Simple. Generous. Unforgettable. Vegetarian and vegan diets catered for — just let us know at booking.
Can I customise my itinerary?
Yes — that’s the whole point. Duration, pace, terrain, bivouac comfort: everything is discussed with Lahsan before departure. There’s no fixed formula here — just your desert, yours alone.
“Let’s write your Sahara story together — on the sand of the dune.”
